Venue Party Guide: The Wallace Collection

Hertford House, home to the Wallace Collection, is a spectacular setting for events and parties, granting you a taste of old-world glamour in the heart of London. Best known for having one of the world’s finest collections of French eighteenth-century Old Master paintings and decorative arts, the museum offers a stunning and versatile backdrop for a wide range of celebrations and special events.

We spoke to Katie Rosier, Senior Events and Business Development Officer, for her insider knowledge on planning an event at this iconic location.

About the Wallace Collection

The collection was formed over five generations of the Hertford family before being given to the Nation by Lady Wallace in 1897. Best known for its paintings by Boucher, Fragonard and Watteau, there are over 5,500 works within the collection, including porcelain, furniture and an impressive array of arms and armour. Hosting an event at the venue has a particularly intimate and special feel, as we only host one event per evening, meaning you essentially have the place to yourselves.

When making an enquiry...

The best way to contact the venue hire team is via email to events@wallacecollection.org or to telephone 020 7563 9507. Once there has been a discussion about your event and an approximate idea of numbers and budget, we can arrange to show you around the venue so you can get a better feel for the space.

When it comes to the space...

We have a range of galleries and spaces available, depending on the size of your event. The Great Gallery is grand and striking, showcasing some of the world’s most celebrated Old Master paintings including iconic pieces by Titian, Rubens and Velázquez. The leafy, terracotta-coloured Courtyard offers an enclosed space with lots of natural light, available for events throughout the seasons. This is perhaps the most versatile space, which has hosted everything from weddings to birthday celebrations, networking events and fashion shows. The Dining Room is distinguished by its pale blue, silk-lined walls, which looks out onto the courtyard and benefits from its natural light. There are also a range of smaller gallery rooms available for more intimate gatherings.

We’re delighted to say the Wallace Collection is looking especially polished at present. We have recently refurbished several of the gallery rooms, entrance, and front hall and I particularly love the detailed point tucking to the facade that ensures an impressive approach to the building every time you visit.

For catering, florists, and other suppliers...

We work with an accredited list of suppliers to ensure your event will be delivered to the highest standards. From flowers and lighting to music and entertainment, we can suggest a range of carefully selected suppliers to make your event unforgettable. We also offer corporate clients the option to arrange for a private view of any of the collections to make the experience even more unique.
