The crowning glory of Banqueting House is its magnificent ceiling - nine paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, one of Europe’s most influential artists. Below, the Undercroft offers a striking contrast. With its cosy archways and intimate corners, it was originally designed as a private retreat for James I and his courtiers. Today, it serves as an atmospheric setting for a wide range of occasions.
