Earth & Wellness Month at Rocket

At Rocket, sustainability and wellbeing are woven into the fabric of our business. From the ingredients we source to the partnerships we build and the way we support our teams, these principles shape how we work every day. In an industry that rarely slows down, we recognise the importance of creating moments to pause and reflect.

Each April, Earth & Wellness Month gives us the opportunity to do exactly that. Now an important part of the Rocket calendar, the month encourages our team to reconnect with the values that underpin the business while focusing on sustainability and the small wellbeing actions that can create meaningful change over time.

Throughout the month, the team took part in a range of activities and workshops designed to encourage connection and healthy habits for the mind and body. From weekly runs and volunteering with our partner charity to conversations around food waste and mental health, it created space for our team to connect and step away from the pace of day-to-day life.

Weekly Runs in Battersea Park

Each week, the team headed to Battersea Park for a run or walk, taking time to step away from the office and enjoy some fresh air together. No matter the experience level, it was a great opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy the warmer weather, and spend time together outside of work.

Yoga Session for Mind and Body

The team also took part in a rejuvenating yoga session at Embody Wellness Studio in Vauxhall, marking our fourth year of attending. It provided a valuable opportunity to switch off, reconnect, and focus on both physical and mental wellbeing. It’s fair to say there were a few sore muscles the following day.

Volunteering with Ace of Clubs

We continued our valued partnership with Ace of Clubs in Clapham, dedicating both our time and food to support homeless and vulnerable members of the the local community. Over the course of the month, the team volunteered on two occasions to help prepare and serve hot meals, an incredibly rewarding and meaningful experience for everyone involved.

The Burnt Chef Workshop

We also partnered with The Burnt Chef Project for a workshop focused on mental health within the hospitality industry. Our very own Head of Pastry Development chef, Miranda, shared her personal journey with the team, opening up an important conversation around wellbeing in chef culture and the importance of looking after your mental health.

“WasteLess” Bake-Off Challenge

Creativity took centre stage during our annual “wasteless” bake-off challenge, where teams were encouraged to bake using ingredients that may otherwise have gone to waste. This year’s winning desserts included a whole orange and almond cake, carrot peel and cardamom cake, and leftover Easter egg chocolate cereal clusters.

Wellness Goodie Bags

To round off the month, we also put together wellness goodie bags for teams across the business. Each bag included a few self-care essentials and healthy snacks to help people through the workday. Unsurprisingly, the snacks disappeared first!

While April gives us the opportunity to spotlight these initiatives, sustainability and wellbeing remain an ongoing focus throughout the year at Rocket. From reducing waste across our kitchens and events to supporting our people and local communities, Earth & Wellness Month serves as a reminder that even small actions can have a meaningful impact.
